I majored in Biochemistry and minored in Computer Science now I want to go back and get a BS EE.

I'm thinking of going into a merchant marine job (Electrotechnical Officer), anyone here working as one? How is it?

Idk man I’m an industrial electrician and I can’t tell you how many times we need to redline a lot of these “designs”… a degree doesn’t always make you worth a fuck. Especially when these guys come right out of school with zero field experience.

Interesting that Ash mentioned including your GPA. My granddaughter is studying cheme at UMich College of Engineering. Going into her senior year her GPA is 3.85, into which she has put a lot of effort. But there have been thosewho sayGPA doesn't matter. I guess it does.

What about ECPI’s electrical engineering technology Mechatronics specialty? What about ECPI’s electrical engineering technology bachelors - Megatron specialty? I’m debating between mechanical engineering technology and their electrical engineering technology program. What’s your thought for as far as salary outcomes??

im doing electrical engineering because I think the way computers use boolean algebra and logic to do math is pretty cool I also like optics and signals but I hate programming with a passion because I hate learning all the commands and syntax so im hoping to avoid code as much as possible lmao

Hey I am going to MVCC a college in Utica NY for AAS a 2 year associates degree , afterwards I plan on going for a electrical engineering technician job and eventually becoming a full engineer. I was planning on joining national grid if I can be hired as quick as possible after the 2 year degree. I had a few questions. I have always had good grades and been a smart kid 95+ average however when it comes to computers and coding it takes me longer than other kids to learn the material. And some math I have to get help for - I think if I really try my best I can be an electrical engineer it’s my dream. However I want to hear your thoughts on parts of the job itself like if you have to run across complex math questions 24/7 and a long list of programming that needs to be done. I would like to know more. This video was great.

So all those videos about mechatronics salary are wrong or deceiving. Because mechatronics is an associates degree, but does the salary come with a combination of degrees. Can someone explain this to me, please?

@JakeVoorhees If you've done industrial engineering, can you go on and do even pharmaceuticals? Like can you atleast become an industrial pharmacist? If so what course should you do to end up becoming an industrial pharmacist?

Work for yourself as a consultant. Work with architectural companies providing their site engineering and structural engineering. Assist city/county engineering. Bid on city/county engineering projects. Provide contractors that have civil issues on their projects. The possibilities are endless. Work a few years with a good consultant that has a variety of projects. Don't do the same thing for 5 years. Get a cross-section of broad design and field issues. You must have an engineering license to practice on your own.

I have worked in almost all of these areas and really consider myself as a general civil engineer. I started out in land development. Having general knowledge of all the various disciplines is such a huge advantage. It allows you to see the bigger picture and bring the right disciplines together to get the job done. So many problems are solved by just having someone who can help the different disciples communicate well with each other.

Bachelor's in electrical Engineering, Majored in power system. Studying Applied energy management renewable energy. But i love the Maintenance part of engineering cause of how it involve some action and same for power too. Dont know what the future holds for job search

Environmental Engineering student here: what I love about it is that, at my university in Germany, you get a grasp of many different STEM fields: we have renewable energy systems, electronics, control systems, hydro- and microbiology, (an)organic chemistry, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, eco- and humanotoxicology; waste, water and air pollution treatment, programming, acoustics and noise prevention, project and business management, environmental law and more. as a project engineer you have to be the link between many fields.

I'm a second year Mechie from a top-notch Engineering university in my country. I have developed interest in Materials Engineering, as you know Materials Engineering is a subfield of Mechanical Engineering, MaterialsE itself has many branches like Ceramic Engineering, Metallurgical engineering, Polymer Engineering Semiconductor engineering,Bio Materials engineering, Nano engineering, Composites Engineering,etc. So I wanna ask, is Materials sector a good choice scope wise?

On my first job boss told me that engineer should wear shirts and I agree to that. You also look like you what you to do on production site. Tie's are for paper pushers though and risk for health depending on engineer specialization.
